Short biography
Dutch artist Anton Corbijn is considered the most influential photographer in the music industry. He photographed over a 100 album covers, of which U2’s “The Joshua Tree” may be the most famous. He is also well known for directing music videos, including the award-winning video of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” (1993). In 1979 he moved to London and worked for the New Musical Express. Later he began shooting editorially for Vogue and Rolling Stone. In 2006 Corbijn designed the new logo for the city of The Hague, where he returned living as well.
His latest project is directing the award winning movie “Control”, a biography of singer Ian Curtis from “Joy Division”, who comitted suicide in 1980. Corbijn’s work has been exposed in a/o Stedelijk Museum (1993), Groninger Museum (2000) and Cobra Museum (2002). He published 14 books, of which Famouz (1989), Star Trak (1996) and U2&i (2005) are the best known.
